What Are MREs?

MRE = Meals, Ready to Eat

MREs originated in the Space Program but were developed into military rations in the 1970s and 1980s. These all in one meal kits were designed to provide a high calorie meal to troops in an easy and convenient package.

The MRE has evolved over the past few decades, adding in more flavorful items and a larger variety of menus, main courses, snack items and desserts.

MREs are used most commonly for our troops, but they are also given out by the government in the case of natural disasters, such as hurricanes, and for other instances of emergency relief, both domestic and abroad.

The MRE is now widely sought after by those wishing to store foods for emergencies such as:

--Financial Emergencies

--Natural Disasters

--Hurricanes

--Terrorism/Acts of War Threats

Meals Ready to Eat are also popular for hunting, fishing, hiking and camping. We have a few stored in our trunk for unexpected boondocking trips or even emergencies involving our vehicle.
